TEMPE, Arizona - (Business Wire) - Tempe-based DataSoft Corporation received the 2013 Excellence in Global Business Award from the Arizona District Export Council.

Arizona 9th District Congresswoman Kyrsten Sinema and Arizona District Export Council Vice-Chair Gunnar Light presented the award to DataSoft CEO Vik Patel at the DataSoft headquarters. DataSoft manufactures and sells an innovative family of programmable wireless communications devices that incorporate Software Defined Radio, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS. These development, test, and deployable systems are popular with government, private industry, and academic research labs. Approximately 45% of the sales of these platforms are from exports. According to DataSoft CEO, Vik Patel, “Export is one of DataSoft’s major goals for growth in the next two years through direct product exports and through partnerships with overseas companies”.

Congresswoman Sinema comments that “With 95% of the world’s consumers living outside of the United States, the economic security of the U.S. is increasingly dependent on exporting and we want Arizona companies to participate and lead in global growth. Anytime an Arizona-based small business can succeed in global sales, we should recognize their role in this important goal for the U.S”.

DataSoft has worked closely with the local US Export Assistance Center to overcome obstacles to doing business abroad and also participates in the State Trade Export Promotion (STEP) program, a combined state and federal grant program administered by the Arizona Commerce Authority. The STEP program was launched in October 2011 in response to President Obama’s National Export initiative, which has a goal of doubling U.S. exports by the end of 2014.
