Automatic Injury Detection (AID) Receives 'ASTORS' Homeland Security Award for Best Personal / Protective Equipment Product

New York City, NY – November 14, 2018 – Automatic Injury Detection (AID), a wearable sensor technology designed to help save lives, received the ‘ASTORS’ Platinum Award for the best personal/protective equipment product. The award was announced today at the American Security Today’s 2018 ‘ASTORS’ Homeland Awards Presentation Luncheon. The awards presentation took place at the Jacob Javits Convention Center as part of the International Security Conference and Exposition (ISC East).

DataSoft partners with Select Engineering Services (SES) to develop, manufacture, and sell AID. AID is a thin film sensor that fits within the existing body armor. Any piercing event (shot, stabbed, shrapnel) is detected and recipients are automatically notified of the incident and location.

The AID smartphone app or Land Mobile Radio (LMR) connects to the sensors through Bluetooth and sends the call for help. Within the app, the user can enter personal information including their name, blood type, allergies, etc. along with a list of recipient phone numbers. If the officer is shot or stabbed, the recipients will receive a text message that includes the personal information, injury zone and a map link to the injured person’s location. The app can also make an automated phone call when the sensor is pierced. The automation, speed and accuracy of this critical information helps ensure that the officer under attack gets help as quickly as possible.
